Appreciation
May 22/23, 2026
“Appreciation’s is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”
Voltaire
On a day in which Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, made the following announcement,
“I am deeply grateful for the trust President Trump placed in me and for the opportunity to lead @odnigov for the last year and a half.
Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026. My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. He faces major challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.”
And while I’m happy she’ll no longer be in that job, I’m extraordinarily unhappy about what’s happening to her and her husband.
Also today, a federal judge tossed the government’s case against Kilmar Abrego Garcia out of court. In his decision, the judge wrote that “the investigation against Abrego in Tennessee was reopened to justify the administration’s decision to deport him to El Salvador”.
On that day I bring you one of the things in this world of which having been privileged to see in person, I truly appreciate.
An African Elephant in the Wild on an Island in the Zambezi River Between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
