A Few Days Off
August 12/13, 2026
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day... is by no means a waste of time.”
John Lubbock
While I may not be lying on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, but tonight I am in need of a break, tomorrow night is a meeting of my community’s Veterans Club and Friday I will be in New York at a goodbye dinner for my granddaughter who is leaving to start her sophomore year at her university.
So, I am taking a few days off. I will return with more analysis of the events of the day Saturday or Sunday.
But first, some images from our September, 2003 trip to Australia.
Sydney, Australia’s Famous Opera House
Alice. An Australian Aboriginal Artist and Her Original Artwork She Sold to Me.
Ayer’s Rock at Uluru in the Heart of the Australian Outback.
Alice, An Outback Town
Orchid Growing Naturally in the Sub-Tropical Northern Australian Rainforest

Enjoy your break. Life is too short to not just let some things happen. Some of my fondest memories are of unplanned events.
